Hi I have just bought a 2nd hand peugeot 306, turbo diesel and i have discovered a button that is not in the manual. this button is to the right of the steering wheel, and egnition and is low down on the dash. In fact it's just above the level to lift the bonnet.

it appears that the button has a cross on it, but it is worn. (so it had been used) i have pressed it and i cant see anything happen - any suggestions?

Does it release the boot catch or open the petrol cap ?
If you have electric windows it might be a central lock to stop anybody (kids)  in the back from opening them, though you should be able to open them from the drivers terminal in the front even though the button is depressed
Just going to check my pug..........Right i'm back! the only thing my car has there is the keyswitch for turning off the passengers airbag? for when you have a child seat in there.

it definately doesn't open the boot or petrol cap, and my airbag switch is further right. I'll try the electric windows today, cheers guys
Right more investigation, 306s are renouned(sp) for having air con faults. (mine did) sometimes the magnets give up and an extra switch is fitted. As this is easier/cheaper than repairing! let us know if you find out!
