I never buy any parts from a main dealership, unless it's an absolute last resort.

Its not often I do use the deales, after 3 set on this car from a local Auto spares shop, I priced the Genuine then took it from there.
Right I see what you mean TWR, not lasting very long are they.

They were absolute crp Tony, & they were Montrose Shocks, I was PSSED off so decided to go genuine, this car is a Coupe & needed Bristine or the likes, I prefer to stick the the Orig but was told by the Auto shop & their so-called bible that the Montrose was the Nearest, I have now Dated the fitted times / cost's, I know the owner of this Auto Dist so will contact him regards the costs, watch this space.
How long have they been lasting for TWR, and how long is the manufactures guarantee. ?
Ok am I looking at this right? Coincidentally, my Mini Cooper needs a new Anti roll bar D bush (whatever that is!) and Mini have quoted me £140 to supply and fit it for me. According to this website they are £2.82!! Kwik-fit say they can't fit it and they say Mini will have to do it. Is that the case or if I buy it from GSF, can any garage fit it? (sorry to be so female about it, but I really don't have a clue! lol )
How old is your car Vod, IE is it still under the manufactures warranty ?.
It's just passed the warranty Tony. It's 3 1/2 years old.

Genuine Brilstine 2 Years, GSF I year, I replaced 3 NEW rads two weeks ago from the same Dist, 2 were faulty!!!!!!!! the shocks have lasted under 1year, needless to say I will not use them again, its doubling the work.
Vodka

The anti-roll bar is a c - shaped metal bar that stops your car from rolling about when you go around corners.

The bush is a D shaped piece of rubber that holds it in place - dead cheap but takes quite a bit of time to replace - hence the cost.

However almost any professional garage will be able to do a fine job in fitting it - and will be cheaper than mini and it won't affect any warranty you may have,

Kwik-fit and the like aren't really garages but fitters dealing with easy jobs like new tyres and exhausts

Vod, Ist mistake>> K.F. any garage will fit it at half the cost Vod.
Thanks so much for that info J-T-P :) xx
Thanks TWR, I will take it elsewhere xx
Vod, don't trust Kwik Fit anyway !. , but yes a competent mechanic will be able to sort that for you.
Tony, I can't abide Kwik-Fit. They are just round the corner from me and I wasn't sure what the knocking noise was from the car. (I didn't know where else to take it because Mini would have charged me just to look at it! ) I had new tyres in Feb and the gits tried to tell me I needed 2 new tyres and they would charge me £400! Lol

Vod, when your car is up for service, do not use the dealers, any VAT Reg garage will do the job for you at half the cost, insist they use the genuine parts, Filters / oils etc to retain your Warranty. ( Unless you have plenty of money lol)
Yes Vod, not being sexist but it's probably c'us your a gal Kwik Fit.
Thanks TWR, the car came with 3 years warranty and 5 years servicing. I'm about to give it back and exchange it for something else so that's why I wasn't wanting to spend a lot of money to get it repaired. Thanks so much for the info of that parts website, it's exactly what I need! lol x
I know Tony :( x
