On a Jaguar XJ6, 2004, there are 4 reversing sensors visible in the rear bumper but they don't work. Is this because they are faulty or could it be the sensor bits are put in as standard but not necessarily connected?

Pretty sure it will be a faulty switch to the gearbox. Do the reversing lights come on when reverse is selected?
I have no idea about cars, but i have about women.

If you drive an XJ6 then you are even MORE desirable.
On our BMW there is a switch that you can either have the sensors switched on or off. Are there other parking sensors on front and do they work.
Can't speak for the Jag, but on my Saab there is a control box for the reversing sensors in the boot, maybe the Jag as one to and it's become disconnected somehow it will probably be called the parking assistance module. Also I can turn my reversing sensors on or off by means of a control panel on the dash, has the Jag got this facility if it has then has anyone turned them off.

Thank you wardlaw, that needs to be checked and I'll report back.

Sqad you have made me laugh out loud and made my day. It's actually partner's new car. I do drive a Celica though, not as classy as befits me but suitably racy xx
You can see them on ours but they just aren't connected - sensor bits there as standard

Prudie....I'm glad that I made you laugh, however some humourless character has pulled my post.
oh, ours is the Xtype rather than an xj

What did sqad say that warranted removal? LOL

Turn the ignition on (but don't start the car) put it in reverse and listen very closely to the sensors, you should be able to hear them ticking, if you can the sensors are working.

From a quick google... it seems the speaker that makes the beep fails on them fairly often, so if the sensors are ticking but the system doesn't beep it could well be that.

Sqad said absolutely zero that required removal, it wasn't even slightly naughty.
Anyway thank you for answers so far. He needs to go and check your advice (none on the front and no switch found as yet but he's only had it a few days).
Blimey...the posts are falling like flies......
