just wondering, can a faulty inlet cam sensor slip by a code reader

Well it did with a Vauxhall Calibra I once had. To prove it was the cam sensor on that car, it would not go above 4000 rpms.

this isnt constant, it appears then it disappears, ha
What are the symptoms.

when starting up, the idles jump, when the car is started warm revs go straight to 3k then back down, rough sounding, when revd it takes half a year to drop back down, a little sluggish especialy at low revs
