This was on the news this morning, the worst areas being West Yorkshire and the West Midlands. Anyone know what these 2 areas have in common?

Drivers without Insurance ?
Anyone know what these 2 areas have in common?

Yes....see your OP :-)
The word West?
well spotted 2sp ;o)
I think Ummmm may have spotted it too, mazie!
People with funny accents?

<Legs it>
(I honestly don't know the answer you are looking for, dave!)
ummmm got it spot on
I think the answer is something to do with immigrants.....
I don't doubt it carrust...
Probably the worst area for old bangers. Anybody with a decent car is unlikely to be uninsured.
China Doll

How weird is this - I think I know who that character in your avatar is...is she from the the film 'Gone Baby Gone'? It's weird because I watched it only last night.

dave50 - West Yorkshire and West Midlands...my knowledge of the north is scrappy at best...can you enlighten us - what are the big towns there?

Seriously - my geography is appalling.
Hey Spat! Yeah, that's her, I also watched it the other night as just read the sequel and thought she'd be a perfect avatar... I think I need help!
go to a price comparison site type in a bradford postcode on the border with leeds i'e ilkley and see the different quotes
I don't think it has anything to do with immigration because London has the highest ethnic minority population so that would be top if the OP thinks that is what those two places have in common.

I Give up, what is the answer?
They were once thriving industrial areas and people had jobs and now there are no jobs.
will dave have the courtesy to return to the question I wonder?
Is it something to do with population density?

West Midlands is the second most densely populated area and West Yorkshire is fourth.
The one I watched was Birmingham(west Midlands) and Manchester

Those of you who genuinely know are all skirting around the issue but not actually coming out with what you really want to say.
