'03 Chevy Cavalier

My 2003 Chevy Cavalier died out while stopped at the traffic light about 10 minutes after being started. It did start back up the first try.
I've had a few previous incidents when it would die out right after being started or even when I'm reversing from the parking space.
The auto shop said it was probably the fuel pump (they didn't look at my car) and someone else said it was the ignition chip. I have no clue and would really appreciate any help I can get. I just need an idea of what the problem might be. thanks!

Although I'm not familiar with this vehicle, you may have a fuel cutoff solenoid, which basically is an electronic switch that allows fuel to pass when the ignition is on, but closes and stops fuel passing when the ignition is turned off. If it is faulty or power is being interupted the fuel may cease to reach the engine periodically and the engine will stop. If you have one of these fitted, it will be a cheaper option to check this out first than the fuel pump or ignition chip. Also check that no air bubbles can get into the fuel at a loose joint or damaged fuel pipe.

It could also be something as simple as the in-line fuel filter.  The small filter in the fuel line can become partially clogged and when the engine is idling or at low power and therefore lessened fuel flow, the partial blockage can reduce the fuel flow low enough to stall the engine... buy some carb cleaner and clean out the air in take that will solve it
