This can be done but you must pay 45.8p fuel tax on the oil that you use each time.

I went to google and searched for diesel chip fat and there are lots of sites explaining it.

you don't thats why its called a diesel engine!!

it is illegal as it is to run a car on red diesal because u are avoiding paying tax, there was a time a few years back where asdas in wales refused customers buying more than one bottle of veg oil each as everyone suddenly caught on to it.

apparently if u use it u get an engine smelling of a fish and chip shop but i havent tried it to see.

well emma12 you can actually run a diesel car on cooking oil (rapeseed bio fuel to be exact) if its mixed with a percentage of white spirit.  And if you declare you doing so and pay your tax twiglet4frog it isn't illegal.

It is possible and it's not illegal if (as prev stated) you pay tax.  There are some bus companies which use it.  Pubs and restaurants sell their used oil to be processed and sold on for this use.

I've seen this on a TV motoring show and listened to it on the Beeb.  Neither warned of needing to pay duty on the cooking oil.  So, it's either irresponsible on their part or no duty is payable.  The latter perhaps because the fuel is recycled, ie. has not been bought so there can be no duty paid on it?

I've just had a look on the old faithful Gooooogle.  Apparently cooking-diesel is allowed a 20p/litre reduction in duty as opposed to mineral diesel. So go search Goooooogle,
