I have a N reg Sharan and a few weeks ago it cut out whilst I was driving it and wouldn't start again!  After leaving it for about half an hour I went back and it started ok!  Since then whilst driving it has tried cutting out (even when travelling at 70mph) but I have managed to keep it going.  The day after being serviced it cut out again.  I have had a new distributor put on but to no avail.  Apparently it isnt sparking.  As it is an intermittent fault I am having problems getting someone to tell me what it is and I don't want to keep paying money till the problem is resolved!  Can anyone please help.  Many thanks.

I had a similar problem some time ago and it was simply a piece of rubber from inside the petrol pump pipe covering the fuel outlet but when stopped it floated clear and the engine ran ok. Once removed no more problem.
