A 2.0 Peugeot 406 Estate with towbar has a Kerb Weight of around 1400Kg and a maximum recommended braked towing weight of 1500Kg.

The smallest Vito has a Kerb Weight in excess of 1800Kg, so already far exceeding the Pug's towing weight even before including the weight of the trailer itself.
Can you not drive the Van home?

Thanks for advice, we might get a van with no MOT, tax or possibly even a van that doesn't run, that way we can get it cheaper and fix it up ourself. We have plans to turn it into a day van.
