autodiagnostics light flashing

i have a peugeot 206 when i turn the ignition the engine autodiagnostics light is flashing and the cars engine shunters i think it maybe oil related have you any idea ?? as i am 5-10 miles away from a garage would it be ok to drive it there without doing any more damage?
