About 5 years ago the drivers electric window on my Vectra began to descend and ascend very slowly until 1 day when i tried to lower the window the glass fell into the cabin.
I took the car to a main dealer and they lubricated the mechanism, and re-seated the glass, (as it hadn't broken).
The same thing has started to happen again, can anyone tell me what needs to be greased when I take the inside of the door off,to save me having to pay top-price main dealers labour costs.
Thanks in advance.

If you take the inside of the door off you will see what wants cleaning and greasing, basically its just the glass runner,I have to do mine occasionally but it does let me know when it needs doing because it will stop halfway up,then I hve to wait a couple of minutes till it resets itself before it travels up to the top.An Owls fan lol.

Thanks razza, not bad for an Owl...it's a small world.
its usually the rubber it slides in, above and below the window line..The rubber can dry out causing it to grip the glass..
Although it doesnt happen on mine,it does look as part of the problem is as Chas says, take the window down as far as possible and clean the rubber window seals as well, then apply a bit of furniture polish to them.
