Hi,helping my mate o do up his tr7(1980).A few weeks ago it got as it was difficult to start, unless we switched it on and off for as many times as it took to start. Now there is no response at all,not even the"click" from the battery. The battery is fully charged,we have had the starter recond and the ignition switch checked,no change.Any ideas?we are now getting desperate.Mick

did you get the starter solenoid done with the starter motor?

Have you checked for power into and out of the solenoid?

Yes chuck a new one was fitted in the recon
Have you tried to clean the earth strap on the Battery to Earth 164? check the earth to body from the starter, Try another battery on the car. Check the connections from the starter to solenoid.
Check the solenoid trigger with a direct lead/cable from battery +.
If clicking and starter engages ok, suspect the feed from switch.
If NOT ok, check/remove starter .. suspect solenoid coil or trigger connection.
If solenoid clicks and that's all .. check main terminals and leads to solenoid/starter. Solenoid is faulty if starter still does not engage after checking main leads. In this case replace starter assy.
Be 100% sure and check engine earth lead too.
is it the old style inertia starter or the pre-engaged later type? (ie built in solenoid), not familiar with TR7s but around that era it could be either..

Thanks,a bloke off the sreet came and gave me a hand. The starter and solenoid are ok,he says it's either the relay or the wiring connected with that.
It's a pre-engaged ..
Line 2 of my test sequence then : )
