Trying to ready a 1981 5l Chevrolet Van to pass the MOT..
The spare has been attacked by hoodys! Do I need one for it to pass or can I just take it out so there isnt one? It's proving difficult to track down the right tyre to replace.

The Spare is not checked during the MOT, doesn't matter whether there is one or not or what condition.
my spare is always checked at the mot centre! apparently you can go without one but if you have got a spare it must be legal and properly inflated :)
Scroll down to Tyres on this link..........

Show me where it says the spare is part of the MOT test GONZO.
Tourman is right, the spare wheel is NOT part of the MOT test.
the spare wheel is not part of the mot but should one not be underneath the carrier must be secure.
sorry toureman...i can't! just know that the guy checks mine every year, though i do live in n.ireland where all mot's are carried out at a government test centre.....CALM DOWN!
is the annual test not slightly different in both north and south ireland?? corect me if im wrong!!someone will i dont doubt!!
tis different in the south of ireland but n.i. supposed to be the same as the rest of the uk. only problem is that you lucky english people have mechanics to mot your vehicles, here in ni we have retrained butchers, bakers and failed mechanics....all trained by the government and who still appear to know f*ck all about cars, motorcycles etc! makes for some very interesting test centre arguements!
lol, gonzo
what do you mean lucky english??im a scot!!!
