I had 3 new tyres replaced today on the car and the steering feels a little light compared to yesterday, could the fact the steering feeling heavy yesterday be due to the fact the 3 tyres were in need of replacing as they were below the limit

yes.

I'm surprised you didn't get all four done. I was always advised to replace them in pairs.
More likely they weren't inflated properly before.
New tyres are usually light on the steering to begin with.
If your tyres were worn to the point of no tread then the contact patch between tyre and road would be greater that that of a tyre with tread making the steering feel heavier especially a low speed.
It is also possible that the old ones were underinflated but fitters ofen over inflate new one too so check pesssures soon.

Has you left a couple of bags of mortar in the boot?
one tyre was on the cord!!! jesus and i'm on the road with you
Yes and unisnsured too if it was not roadworthy. Some people should not be allowed out!
