I have a 2004 audi a3 and the cigarette lighter doesn't work.
2 weeks ago the battery died so needed to get a new one, I put a new 1 on the car and the cigarette lighter that is only used to charge phone & sat nav doesn't work anymore. I have checked the book for the fuse which is for the lighter but it doesn't say anything at all. Everything else is working fine as it was previous to this. If anyone can shed light on what may be wrong or what fuse etc to try as i now have no idea what to try next.

Find the fuseboard
Look at the lid and the symbols for the cig lighter one.
You can't break a cig lighter changing a battery.

the fuse box just has f1. f2 etc.. nothing on the lid of the fuse box but the manual says what the fuses are for except the cig lighter. It just annoying as its something that doesn't work. I thought maybe the electrics need resetting to it as I had to do with the windows, dash lights etc...
You absolutely sure about the lid?
They are usually marked there, as the manuals are generic.
Question Author
yes, inside the lid just has says f1, f2 etc.. and the book states what f1 (fuse 1 is for etc) r1 etc.. for relays. Thats the 1st thing I actually looked at as every other car I've owned had pics of what each fuse was for. Its really doing my head in
Question Author
oh and the fuse box is in the engine bay , there isn't 1 inside the car at all.
^ What about on the end of the dash covered by driver's door? Notch covering (lever out)
Question Author
nothing there, i've had all the dash apart to see if there are any more fuses but they are all in the engine bay. I just find it strange and can't figure it out at all
are you sure

That's a left hand drive car, on a right hand drive it will be on the otherside (same side as steering wheel)
Question Author
no chuck, you either have the 1 behind the dash or engine bay. mine is in the engine bay not behind the dash. thanx anyway
