back windows wont wind down on old style rover

mum had another rover a few years back with same problem its like there is a lock or somthing on the handle how can we sort this out there is nothing in the manual itsthe same both sides and was the same on her other car also

forgot to say handles are there not electric

Hi, if I remember rightly, pull the handle outwards to release.

so you pull the fat end of handle towards you then you can wind them down am i correct?

I'm almost sure that's how the unlocked, but I will most likely be corrected knowing this site!!
