I have a 1987 honda accord lxi fuel injected engine that starts up and runs at a high rpm for about one or two minutes and then slows down. Then the engine begins to pulse. This must be a common problem because we got another 87 accord just like it and it is doing the same thing. Can you help me. I have come across this before on a Honda engined Rover.  I can't remember what the valve is called though that could be causing the problem.  First thing is to check that all electrical connectors are connected and that there are no loose vacuum pipes.  Ensure you look around the PGM-FI area on the engine - with ignition off remove connectors and refit them to ensure they're fitted properly.

The cause of the surge is most likely the engine management system not receiving signals from part of the engine 'mapping' system.  It could be a temperature sensor, ambient air temperature sensor etc.  Do as above and check all connections.

I had the same problem, see http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Motoring/Question69424.html

for a couple of suggestions, I sold it recently and never fixed the problem so I can't confirm anything!
