I have been on holiday for 2 weeks and the car will start but wont move. It was put in for a service just before i went and the car is about 2 years old. Can anyone help with any suggestions for what I can do? The handbreak releases but feels a bit tighter than normal

There is always the possibility that although you can release the handbrake in the car, the actual handbrake mechanism in the wheel has stuck. I always find that a gentle tap on the rear wheel hubs with a hammer does the trick. Obviously if you have plastic wheel trims it is advisable to remove them first

Thanks Alcan. Have just tried that and no luck. Yhe car is moving slighly but it seems as if one of the back wheels is blocked.

A Vauxhall?
we had same problem.
went to tesco came back drove thru some water.that was thursday, come to move it sunday engine revving but wud not move.looked to see if anybody had put bricks infront of wheels,no.
then found out give back wheels a good heavy whack.that did it.apparently any moisture in brake drums causes this.
and yes its a vauxhall
When my Astra jams, I put it in reverse and get it rocking by reversing then releasing the clutch repeatedly.

Each time you go back it rises up, and I keep doing it progressively harder and harder until the handbrake releases with a bang.
