can irepair my pitted chrome bumpers

i have a 1953 ford prefect in fantastic condition, but the front and rear bumpers chrome has gone a bit oxidixed.
it costc a fortune to get them re-chromed, so has anybody got some wonderful money saving tricks of the trade to share with me.

I would go on a specialist Ford Prefect site for your answer, you may be able to pick up a 2nd hand bumper, Try Google.
