what would be the cause of the back tyres going out of shape

incorrect inflation? Cheap tyres? Slow puncture? (Check to see if the head of a nail is visible in the grooves, for instance.)
Tracking could be out. Normally affects the front tyres more, but the back ones could be out too.
Get the tyre checked it sounds as if it it faulty.
What do you mean by "going out of shape" have they gone square, loosing pressure or something?

Hi Bafflexxd, this was a bit misleading ( Your Q. does the back of your car "bounce" that's your indication of worn shocks also if you can, check the bellows of the shocks are they showing oil, if you mean the tyres are showing ware on the outer edge that could be another ware on the bushes, explain a bit better!!.
