Has anyone had any experience of owning the new shape Fiat Punto? My other half is keen to buy one and I have heard all the horror stories about Fiat's and their reliability, so if anyone has one or has had one I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Thanks, but I was looking for something a bit more constructive than the obvious "ditties". No stars I'm afraid tony.
Hi, I change my lease car every 3 years and always get FIATs. I have never had a maintanance problem they are very reliable. New FIATs do not rust.
I have the new FIAT punto eleganza top of the range.
However I find that the new punto is not roomy inside (although longer in length) and has little storage. Also no spare wheel (you get an emergency repair instead) I find this worrying as I travel long distances. The new FIAT punto also does not do well on petrol. It is a thirsty car.
But it looks great and is very stylish. You can get lots of extras like internal blue tooth and USB ports, handy if you use the car like an office.

Hope this helps.

flip flop give it a rest, they are s h i t , end of story, why do you think they give a 5 year warranty now? because nobody wants to buy them
Or it could be because they are confident they are providing a good quality product.

Think about it a little - what sane company would provide a 5 year warranty if their product was always failing thus resulting in loads of warranty claims?
I have had a second hand Punto for 3 years now. Best car I have ever had. Starts even in the freezing cold without antifreeze in it. Buy with confidence.

Thanks for all your excellent feedback. some other questions now arise; Are the warranties transferable? and if the mpg is poor what class are they in re CO2 and road tax? Thanks again
Mine is low tax. Also the CO2 is low. Petrol consumption is surprisingly high. However I use mine for long journeys. Probably much better for shorter runs.
you can ask as many people for opinions as you like, And you will allways get horror stories,
No matter what car you care to name there will allways be somebody calling it crap, and the worst people for this are mechanics, how many mechanics do you know, do they all drive the same make of car,?
Most people who cry down their cars, do so because they have wrecked them by bad driving themselves,
Fiat have been arround a heck of a long time, and they havent survived by producing rubbish.
