Wife recently got a new Punto Grande. I am most surprised that it does not have a locking petrol filler cap. Nor does the cover flap lock. I can appreciate that there is probably an anti fuel theft device in the neck to the tank but, surely, the main reason for cars to be fitted with locking caps is to prevent/deter adulteration of the fuel.Is this purely a cost cutting exercise by Fiat or is there some other valid reason for not fitting a lock?

i would suggest purchasing cap that can be locked with a key from halfords or a spares shop at least then you know it is secure-make sure you buy the correct 1 for car.it may be a cost cutting excersise but the flap may lock with the central locking if car has it.
