ford focus engine management system light on !!

I have a ford focus '51' plate.
Engine been a bit jerky lately. I've had plugs and ht leads repalced, still a bit jerky.
Now the engine management system light is staying on. any ideas why ?????

what size of engine is it ?

its 1.8 16v GHIA

Probably the coil that is the problem as quite common on The Focus.

many thanks. How can i check it ? or is it a garage job?

You would have to speak to a mechanic but can be changed by yourself.Cost is about 55 pounds
