Fiesta Door Lock Going Crazy!

For a while now, my 1997 Fiesta's driver side door lock has been crazy! Sometimes it works fine. Often, however, I cannot open it with the key. I go to the passenger's side door, open that and both locks will start locking and unlocking themselves. I have to clamber over the passenger seat and push open the driver's door. There is no set pattern to this - it just starts locking and unlocking itself randomly. Before I shell out on rip off Ford mechanics, is there an easy solution to this? Thanks.

It's called recycling - some issue with one of the central locking solenoids.

From memory, you should disconnect one at a time until the symptoms stop (not brilliant if it's intermittant though!)
This happened on my daughters P reg fiesta and after removing the door panel, there was a piece of rubber that had dropped to a position that prevented the door lock/solenoid from fully extending to the open position, so it retracted and tried again, and again, etc, until I'd shut the door. I could open the door, but only when the solenoid was in the open side of its throw.
My wife's P reg fiesta has just started doing the same thing, but it was such a long time ago that I fixed my daughters car that I can't remember exactly where the offending piece of rubber was, and it's all hidden under a steel cover as well. And some of the door panel clips were only glued on, and yes, they've all fallen off. Ford, tuh.
