Anyone know what could be up with a rover that will struggle to start then cuts out at very low revs . Engine will only run when its being revved up

My friend had this on his 400.It turned out to be an adjustment to the screw that sits under the throttle cable in the engine bay the screw had worked it's way down so the throttle was closing more than it should so the car would stall at idle.It only needs about three quarters of a turn anti-clockwise just so it keeps the throttle open that bit more,hope this works.
