Somebody drove into my car whilst I was off having lunch. They've been decent and got in touch - trying to avoid an insurance claim, but the first estimate I've got seems a bit high.

It's a burgundy 1992 vauxhall astra, and all that needs doing is for the front driver's side wing to be pulled out / replaced (and painted if necessary) - what should I be expecting to pay? Dent is at the front of the wheel arch - nothing else wrong with car.

Depends whether you go to a back street bodger or a main agent. You might think the dent can be pulled out, but what would the finish be like.Main agents wont bother straightening the dent they will replace the wing and then paint the whole side of the car to ensure a paint match. Similar thing with my sister last year on a Ford Escort - total cost 600.

Shop around and get a few estimates - and tell them it is NOT an insurance job.
even if you put a new wing on the car and painted it,it should not come to more than 350. to repair it should cost no more than 250.but dont go to a main dealer.go to your local repair shop.
