my car is going into the garage for some insurance work the garage made a list of work needed and the took photos of vin numbers under bonnet and said he'll email them with pics to insurance is this normal practice to photograph vin /body numbers?

yes,pictures or video or dvd are used,it saves them money by not sending out a assessor.
i mean the damage is photographed and id has to be clarified.
Some companies will not accept digital photo's as they can be easily modified.
