is it possible to fit a sony cd changer to a standard vw bora radio? and if so is it an easy job?

I have just fitted a VW CD changer to a Polo. This simply plugged into the back of the radio/cassette. No other connections were needed. You may be able to buy an adapter that will connect the sony player to the radio. Try Halfords.
