its not up to you or the garage, your insurance company will have it looked at by a accessor,he decides if it is worth repairing,if the car is only worth 1000 and repairs will cost more, they will write it off.
They can write it off as not worth repairing and offer you to buy it off them and you can try to get it repaired cheaper somewhere else. Like the insurance will respray a new door and wing mirror etc and you may get a second hand door cheap and not mind a mis match so it wont cost alot (example only)
They can also write it off as it is unsafe so you need to check.
You cannot demand it be fixed it lies in the hands of the assessor to decide if it is financially viable for them to fix it.
Hope they do it for you. xxxx
most cars are written off these days unless its minimal damage or an expensive car, its just cheaper for the insurance company, less hastle, no hire cars, no staff to pay dealing with questions etc
