Mondeo Gearbox Troubles

W reg Mondeo 2 ltr auto (petrol)

When in the Drive position this car has started to change down momentarily, sometimes even going to 2nd gear at 70 mph for a few seconds before returning to top !

Can anyone tell me what the fault might be ? I hope it's just a sensor.

Unusual to have no answers !

Glad to say that the problem was only a faulty gear position sensor/switch, replaced by a good transmission specialist for £105. Better than a gearbox rebuild.
