P.S. I Love You

11:38 Fri 16th Jul 2010 |

P.S. I Love You is a romantic tragic-comedy. The film is based on the award winning novel of the same name by Cecelia Ahern and stars Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. The film explores how hard it can be to cope when your partner suddenly passes away and suggests a possible way to deal with life.

The film did reasonably well at the box office; however, audience reviews were mixed. This so often happens when a book is made into a film; many viewers found the departures from the book’s plot difficult to bear and thought that the film suffered from too much ‘Hollywood’.

Having said that, most audiences were very happy with the performances of Swank and Butler. In addition, the strong supporting cast received much adulation; the cast included such greats as Lisa Kudrow, Kathy Bates, Harry Conick Jr and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Hilary swank plays a recently widowed young woman whose husband has died unexpectedly and prematurely at 30. The husband is played by Gerard Butler and he has prepared ten messages for his wife which will, hopefully, help her move on with her life. These messages are delivered to Swank at certain moments starting with her thirtieth birthday. Are the messages from beyond the grave helping her or are they keeping her living in the past?
