50 First Dates

11:38 Fri 16th Jul 2010 |

50 First Dates is an unforgettable romantic film. Most of the film was shot on location in Hawaii and stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The supporting cast includes Rob Schneider, Sean Astin, Lusia Strus, and Dan Aykroyd. The movie is dedicated to the memory of Stanley Sandler, Adam Sandler's father.

This was a big hit for Adam Sandler fans; he excelled himself in this role. Drew Barrymore also played brilliantly in this very difficult part. The Hawaiian scenery is stunning and the perfect backdrop for their tortured love. Despite its slightly tragic note the film has numerous funny moments many because of the hilarious supporting cast many of whom have starred with Sandler on Saturday Night Live.

Those who are not fans of Sandler will find him annoying and may perceive this film as just another star vehicle.

The fictitious memory impairment suffered by Barrymore's character is similar to Alzheimer's disease and Anterograde amnesia.

Sandler plays a determined womaniser who only believes in one night stands. However, when he meets Barrymore’s character at breakfast they spend a lovely day together and arrange to meet the next day. When Barrymore takes offense at Sandler’s perceived overfriendly advances Sandler realises that all is not right with this girl and after meeting her family he sets out to make her fall in love with him every day for the rest of their lives.
