Hi, looking for the name of a Scottish comedy actor, but not John Gordon Sinclair or Alan Cummings.  I can't remember anything he's been in, but am picturing him playing a film director.  About the same age as JGS and AC though.  Any ideas?

Possibly John Hannah?
Question Author

No, it's not him.  Dark curly hair, looks a bit like Eddie Tudor Pole, if you know who he is!

Oops...........if you go into www.imdb.co.uk and put his name into the search box you can see a picture.
Sorry jaw67 we crossed there..........
Right , clutching at straws now..........what about B.A. Robertson? Although a singer he has done a bit of acting and fits the description of Eddie Pole Tudor (ish).
Question Author
No, younger than B A Robertson.  But thanks for the suggestions.  I just wish I could remember something he's been in!  I thought he'd been in Jonathan Creek but couldn't find anything.
Possibly Richard Jobson? who recently directed 16 years of alcohol.
What about Stanley Baxter?

Sounds like Peter Capaldi.

Might it be Gerard Kelly, he was in a comedy series called City Lights where he played a bank clerk?
Question Author

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I'm definitely leaning towards Peter Capaldi, I can definitely picture him playing a tv or film director in some comedy show.

Thanks again all.

from your Eddie Tudor Pole likeness, I'd definitely say Peter Capaldi.

Tom Hollander? Although Oxford-born he looked quite Tudor Pole-ish and adopted a Scots accent when he played a Scottish TV director in the comedy film Maybe Baby.
Peter Capaldi was revently in the vicar of dibley.....he asked geraldine to marry him.....turned out he meant would she conduct the service!
Question Author

Thanks Dame Babs, I remember now, that's where I saw him playing a TV director.

I know you're happy with Peter Capaldi but can I make a further suggestion?

Tom Hollander. He looks a bit Tudor Pole-ish and is about the right age. Although Oxforshire born, he adopted the accent to play Scottish TV director Ewan Proclaimer in the comedy film Maybe Baby.

Thanks for the suggestion Lorcan, but I've just looked at a picture of him and he's far too good looking to be the one.  He's not gawky enough!  Cheers for that though.

It's Peter Capaldi who played the producer of Song of Praise in The Vicar of Dibly.
