Don't know how it lowers the deficit, but it's about time they kerbed spending at the BBC, did you see how many people they sent to South Africa to cover the world cup, all staying at 5 star hotels when they could have done exactly the same thing from a studio in Britain with a TV link up.
The government takes the money off the BBC and gives it back to the public. It then takes the money off the public by raising VAT or something else, and uses it to pay off the deficit. That's how it works.
