Im just watching Eric Sykes on The South Bank Show, it might just be me or is it a comedy prop but i could swear he has no lenses in his glasses if so, why?

They are 'hearing spectacles'. They have no lenses as they are in fact a hearing aid.

he's pretty much blind so I don't suppose the specs have any value for his vision.

On a different tack. Watching "Bilko" over all these years , his glasses never seem to have any lenses in either . I suppose it was to do with the studio lights or something . Also Eric Morecambe's were the same in their films.
