Not interested in debate about the rights and wrongs about
Muslim women wearing a face veil, each to their own as long as it applies to everyone.
If they want to deprive themselves of Vitamin D then thats their choice.
But a story in my local rag
https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/royal-stoke-doctor-guilty-misconduct-7178852
Really boils my urine.

How on earth are you supposed to see if anyone with a face covering is
buying anything age restricted?
(knives for example)

Whats to prevent me dressing in a black gown and a face covering and buying alcohol even though I might be only 14 say?
(Once worked with a young muslim woman who actually bought me a 4 pack of lagers for my birthday...wondered how she got them only years later! She was only about 18/19 at the time)

Couldnt give a stuff if you want to cover your face or not but
But how do you go on about buying age restricted items if you refuse to show your face?

(The link given is medical, but was used as an example)

I saw a Muslim woman in a supermarket buying a kitchen knife. She was asked to prove her age and handed over her driving licence. She was happy to go with a woman supervisor to show her face in private.
I've seen the same happen in a building society and at the airport. Doesn't seem to be a problem
it sounds like there's a little more to that story than just veils. A strong Stoke-on-Trent accent that nobody else had trouble with?

Was once in Poundland with my son when he was about 15.
Had a self conscious head injury and was wearing a hoodie for a while.
Was asked by a member of staff to take it down.
Got to the till and was served buy a FULL face covering, head covering muslim lady.

As I said, I couldnt give a fig about what fashion accessories you choose to wear (No compulsion in Islam to cover yourself)
But it caused my son some discomfort.

God help a STRONG glaswegian accent, or Manc accent or Scouse accent etc.....

From your link 'In an email on May 25, 2018, in response to a complaint from the patient, Dr Wolverson said she "spoke poor English" and that he was "struggling to understand her" and was "trying to look at her mouth movements to aid communication". It was also found that Dr Wolverson refused to speak to Mrs Q's husband despite his attempts to communicate with the doctor, which Dr Wolverson later claimed was because he "found his manner aggressive and intimidating

But the MPTS ruled in early March that Dr Wolverson had changed his evidence during proceedings, as ***he tried to suggest that he had instead asked for the veil to removed because of Mrs Q's strong Stoke-on-Trent accent.*** The tribunal said that when Mrs Q came to give evidence, they had no issue understanding her.'[Emphasis added]

This is my favourite story of recent years.

TLDR - Aussie bank, woman in motorcycle helmet challenged, man in Burkha not challenged. Yes it was a stunt...but what a great stunt.
Do age restrictions really stop young people getting hold of knives/cigs/booze? I don't think so.

Me and my mates were drinking in pubs from age 15 without any problems. Some smoked, some probably had knives.
I smell a cover-up. :-)

I disagree. There are certain circumstances in this country where one is required to show one's face for identification. There is no reason why special facilities should be provided to enable this.

Rather than being indulged in this way, Muslims should be told that this is the way it is. They either show their faces as required or the service cannot be provided to them.

On a wider note, the idea that women must cover their faces is ridiculous and offensive to men. As I understand it (though have not studied it too deeply due to the idiocy of the practice) Muslim women must cover themselves because men cannot be trusted to control their lust. If that is true, I find it deeply offensive.
I'm currently putting the finishing touches to a screenplay entitled The Lustful Muslim: Control Freaks In Denial.

If it goes to production I wonder if Cineworld will screen it.
// Derbyshire Live spoke to Dr Wolverson. He declined the opportunity to give his side of the story //

You have been accused of something, and a newspaper gives you the chance to tell your version of events - and you don’t. Why not?

Reminds me of the old seaside dirty postcard. Doctor and naked blonde, and the doctor says “how long have you had the blister on your little toe?”
how about - going to friend's house party and was asked "would I like a pair of teeth" - eh what - that's what I lipread. She was asking "would I like an aperitif".
If you are working in a part of the country, and you cannot understand the local accent, then you have the problem, not the patient. Refusing to speak to a relative (who presumably has the same ascent) just confirms the doctor is not qualified to work in that area.
He should either be removed and get a job in his local village, or get a job where verbal communication is not necessary - stacking shelves in Poundland for example.
/// women must cover themselves because men cannot be trusted to control their lust ///

I believe you're right there Newjudge, and as you point out it is highly offensive.
not really, Canary, they just cover their faces to show respect to God. Men are expected to do the same, but by growing beards. Some Jewish women wear wigs. Christian women used to be expected to wear hats in church.

I don't know quite why deities are expected to be so upset by human heads; but I don't think it's got anything to do with lust.
Thanks jno, I wasn't aware of that.
If this is the same story I read a few years ago, and I think it is, it was slightly different.
The lady took her veil off without demur. Unfortunately her SIL was in the room* and happened to mention it to the lady's husband. It was at that point (understandably ;-)) the SHTF.
*She might have been in the waiting room and heard about it, either way I don't care, save my fans piling in.
Seems it wasn't so much the wrath of God, jno. She had far more pressing terrestrial concerns. Nice diversion into the world of fashion, though.
So sorry. It was her 10yr old daughter with her.
They must have been so concerned.
