could anyone please tell me what an emo guy/girl looks like, what music they listen to etc

Emo = Emotionally charged, listen to punk rock....oh my God is that coming back...run for the hills!

Guys - shortish hair spiked or in some sort of asymmetric fashionable style, often dyed black.  Baseball caps sometimes but I think they're a bit out now. Tightish T shirt or polo shirt.  Baggyish jeans slung really, really low - often you can see most of their backside - with a canvas or studded belt (clearly for show only!) Skate-style trainers.  Black hooded sweater or jacket.  Bit of black nail varnish possibly.  Facial piercings and maybe some tats of flames, dice or skulls.

Music - Hundred Reasons, Funeral For A Friend, My Chemical Romance, Eighteen Visions.  You could probably google for more.
