Why do they play different songs throughout the program with lyrics that purport to be of a similar subject matter to what is being said on the show at that particular moment. It's very silly and rather irritating.

Do they ? I try not to pay much attention to background music. I tend to be focused on what interests me.

Eastenders does it pretty well too. I actually don't mind the music in homes under the hammer, I'm too busy counting the number of times Lucy or Martin look at 'my kitchen', shake there head in digust and say it needs to be ripped out :-/
