I started off watching this but had to give up due to the time it was transmitted. I did record several episodes but never quite found the time to watch them.
How did it end? Should I have persevered with it?

Thanks for that. I may look it up as I did like it. Not as much as 'The Killing' which I made time to watch. Spiral conflicted too much with the final stages of the Spanish football. My French is nowhere near good enough.
