In an earlier post about Cheryl Cole, love her or hate her !
I can't understand anyone of a mature age, calling a young person a 'prostitute'
I left as I was so annoyed at this labelling, I don't care if it is WAGS or otherwise, I hate the idea of mature 'men' saying these things,
I know it's raising the subject again, but why call young girls like this?
Cheryl Cole or anyone's daughter?

This is probably not the answer you were looking for but - I don't think there is anything insulting about a) being called a prostitute b) being one.
Of course there are those who use it as an insult because they are judgemental about such things in the same way youngsters use the word "gay" as a substitute for words like "naff" or "stupid".
It's all about context IMO.
Don't know really. The person who said it probs doesn't like her and thought it appropriate to label her a prostitute whether its fair or not

thats fine Answer, if you know the person personally, but to generalise?
"naff" is a word derived from gay vocabulary.

It refers to somebody unappealing, and is a contraction of ...

"Not Available For Fcuking"

It has now come into popular cultural usage, but few people know its origin.
JJ, you always teach me something new :-)
Is that true JJ?

it's a consensus of what they perceive of her or what they think young ladies do that irks me karma, admittedly someone like Jordan who comes over a such, but a young lady because she married a footballer? is that fair ?
karma ... yes, it's true.
Its just a derogatory term that some people use sometimes even if there is no evidence to back it up
Bobbi, you speak of Cheryl as if she were your own daughter. I know nothing about her. but she does flaunt it, both her and her husband. Marriage today seems to be............ whatever. It is supposed to be for life.
And the word "camp" is also a gay word.

It is a distortion of the acronym "kamp" ... which referred to an appealing young gay man, but which meant "Known As Male Prostitute" ...

... and now just ... "camp"
Question Author
all I can say the comments were very graphic and unfair to anyone who has a daughter !
Question Author
cass I understand what you say, forget the Geordie connection, that does not apply here, I just do not like to see any young girl labelled this way
A good looking gay male is a "Bono" (yes!)

And to eye someone up is to "varda" them.

So you'd varda the kamp Bono, but not his naff mate.
Have you seen the film Notting Hill Bobbi?
Question Author
No, is this relevant Captain?
What happened with 'gay' mean happy? Is the word 'gay' converted or changed in meaning? In my school days gay used to mean happy, jolly
Jolly refers to a happy circumstance.

Gay refers to an "omi-polone" who would "plate" another "bono"

(a gay man who would perform orally upon another gay man)

Oh, boy ... this is such a jolly town in which to live.

I'm referring to the restaurant scene where Anna overhears the table of blokes describing her as a prostitute because she was an actress and "well up for it" and yet they had never met her.

My point is it is very easy to form an opinion of people in the public eye and pass comments we would never dare make to their face. The usual defence is they are asking for it by courting publicity in the first place.

I know since my daughter was born it has changed the way I look at young women as I do think would I like her to be viewed or thought of the same way.
