I have just set up my PowerBook G4 to use TalkTalk and it all seemed to go ok until I unplugged the ethernet cable after configuring the modem and to use the usb connection. In network preferences the status shows that all is configured and that I am connected to the internet via the correct IP address but when I launch Safari I get the you are not connected to the internet message.

What am i doing wrong?

Thanks for any help

Why not just use the ethernet cable?

It may not work, as the USB will require a driver than may not be written for the mac.

Thanks fo3nix, sometimes I can not see the wood for the trees, it did come with a disc with the drivers but when you install it the driver it installs is called ethernet en3. Can I run a pc from an ethernet cable from a wireless router, which I am using for my mac as well?

Thanks for your answer, you never let me down fo3nix
Yea, everything will work with ethernet. Connect your PC to one port on the back of the router, and your mac to another (there's probably 4 ports on the back labelled 1-4). Or just use wireless if your computers support it.
