I wonder why BB never addressed the issue that Jermaine Jackson (In celeb BB earlier on this year) used the expression 'White Trash' when referring to his fellow housemates. I am still gobsmacked that it was swept under the carpet yet all the other hoohaa was so well documented and dealt with. Ought not BB to be looking at every racial incident from both sides?

I believe the key to this one is that Jermaine didn't say it to anyones face. He made the 'white trash' comment to Shilpa in a conversation they were having.

His actual words were something like ''Where I come from people would call her White Trash''..therefore it looked as if he wasn't calling her White Trash at all, merely stating that this term would be used by others.

It was also considered that as this term is used between caucasians as well, it wasn't deemed racist.
Pippa, if it is not racist, because the term "white trash" can be used by caucasians, then surely the N word isnt racist because lots of black people use it to each other!!

As with all things racism isnt what is said, it is the intent it is said in, and when Jermaine said "white trash" in an insulting term, this was racist.
I'm not saying I agree with what Jermaine said, nor do I think the situation was the same, actually.

My take on the celeb BB case was that it wasn't a racist problem anyway ~ it was bullying, yes ~ but not racist. Jermaine didn't use the term 'white trash' to bully anyone. The fact that Jade Goody et al used alleged derogatory terms to bully Shilpa was a key issue.

This recent one was blown all out of proportion too. Charley KNEW that Emily didn't mean offence by saying the 'N' word..I know she didn't either, but she still shouldn't have said it..rightly or wrongly the word is used amongst black people in a 'brother' way.

White people used the word in a derogatory manner. Black people (specifically gangsta types) have turned it around and are using it in a good way. And again, rightly or wrongly it is taken as read that white people are not supposed to use the word at all.
He was called up on what he said last year, the same as the others were.
even though he didnt say it to any white persons face, jade goody didnt call shilpa "poppadom" to her face, she was leaving the room.

why does racism go un-noticed when its this way round?!
At the moment racism is a one way street,

What if it had been a christian women abusing a Muslim soldier?
There were other things besides the 'poppadom' comment ~ mainly the ganging up by the group on Shilpa.

Besides which, Shilpa herself has said that she doesn't think Jade was racist. It was the media.
Still gobsmacked? You should move on with your life.
