Wireless printer?

Does anyone have a wireless printer, and if so, is it a lot better than having a wired one?

Any problems sending the signal to the printer? Does it always connect okay?

I have just installed an HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless & Ethernet printer. Connection to a router/livebox is permanent.
Fine bit of kit. You can use the install disk like a wizard to connect wirelessly or different connection method to PC/router.
Pretty fast with no delay compared to older Photosmart 7762 connected directly. Bit complicated number of inks .. and it has 2x heads (each with an ink supply/holder in them)
Double-sided duplexer comes with it. Bought from Northampton warehouse new for £70. Can't get much better than that.
It is pretty large tho!

Thanks Al. I'm looking for a new printer and can't decide whether to pay the extra to get a wireless one. That way, I can do my work in the lounge and send it to the printer in the study without getting up off my 'arris. :o)

We have got a Canon wireless printer which is now about 4 years old. Main benefits are...you can put it where you like within reason..ours is in the kitchen and the big computer is in the living room...you can print off any of our other computers (2 windows lappys and an apple) We have never ever had a signal problem. setup was fiddly but not hard...you connect it to the computer, set it up then set up the wireless bit.
We have just bought an HP wireless printer which has got airprint (prints off iphones and ipads over the network without drivers) and eprint (prints photos off smart phones via email from anywhere in the world) It was a b******* to set up and the HP techy wasn't too helpful. In the end he told me that that particular model (C410 AIO) has a glitch in the software which makes it unstable with the BT hub. He reckons there will be a software fix published end jan to mid feb. Anyway God bless Apple, I connected it via the time capsule backup drive and it is now working perfectly.

The good thing is .. with this one .. is it has LAN onboard, so will connect by cable to router or Livebox if reqd.

Thanks woolfgang. Neither hubby or I are particularly clued up on computing and I am a tad worried that we'll get a wireless one and be unable to set it up. :o(

The HP software tells you to plug the USB .. unplug it .. and does it all really. Not much interaction required. When it finishes, it prints a report.

If you want a small printer then I'd go for the Canon.

I'm thinking of buying a colour laser printer. The one I have in mind is quite compact, which I like the idea of.

It's a Samsung CLP325W and it has been recommended to me by a girl I chat to online, but I've looked through some reviews and they are very mixed. As well as some good reviews, some folk are very disappointed with it, and some have said that it's an absolute bu88er to set up, so I can't decide whether to get it or not. :o(

Most printers you buy nowadays are wireless but there also able to be used with a wire if you dont want to use them wireless.So Just buy a wifi one as they also connect via a usb cable anyway.

Isn't the bluetooth the latest thing for printers our is it the same as wireless

bluetooth has a lesser range than wireless and doesn't go through your router so may not have as good a signal
