Hooray for a new topic!

I was sad to hear Ray Gosling on R4's Pick of the Week last Sunday say that he's now in sheltered accommodation and living on benefits, so can no longer work for the BBC - he's lost none of his sharpness and still has the inimitable voice.

However, he did say he's started doing a blog, which should be worth a visit. Does anyone know where I can find it?

he waqs living like that 20 years ago he thrives on it!
As you all know, Ray Gosling was a prolific radio broadcaster on subjects ranging from just about anything to just about anything else, but one programme I remember clearly, and would love to trace, is a thing he did around the time of the Silver Jubilee (1977) called Something nasty in Betty Windsor's woodshed, which was, if I remember correctly, a recollection of his adolescence in the 1950s. A key entry in our 20th century cultural diary.

One of the radio greats. I'd like to see his blog, too. We must search for it.
I met Ray last year when the Conservative candidate for my area held a special event at the candidate's house just after the General Election. He was there plugging some kind of printed leaflet that was "politically neutral", except he couldn't think of the word, so I suggested it to him.

He now lives in Nottingham and I can say that it's a poor area he lives in - not too far away from where Danielle Beccan was killed two years ago. I suppose that he's a bit like a local Peter Tachell...

To look at him, you would never think that he was the man that he used to be, even though I am too young to remember most of his programmes...
