You're giving your age away if you're old enough to remember (if only rather vaguely!) the late Ted Ray ;-)

My that was quick, thank you Chris. (maybe my grandma wants to know.........lol)
Thanks for your reply.

Mrs Hoskins and Dr Hardcastle make their appearance in the section of this programme which begins about 11 minutes in:

Ah, the late great Patricia Hayes - who played Henry, in Norman and Henry Bones on children's radio!
Talking of ITMA, one of my claims to fame(!) is that I was born the same day that Tommy Handley, star of ITMA, died. Apparently my father's first words to my mother on visiting her at hospital were not about me but, "Tommy Handley's dead!"
Is your name Tommy, then, eddie?!

Thanks for that too, Chris, what a mine of information AB is, love it! What about this then? I recall Hermione Gingold or was it Badderley in another radio series saying something like 'Isn't it nice Edmond sitting here drinking tea and listening to the sound of the death watch beetle gnawing at the foundations',- any ideas?
Your quote reminded me that the phrase "Tea Edmond" was used at home, and I suspect that came from the same programme. A search has found these 2 pages

which mention Mrs. Doom's Diary

"How many remember Hermoine Gingold as Mrs. Doom in this parody of Mrs. Dale's Diary? Alfred Marks played the husband and the nasty son was played by Richard Attenborough! This was part of the radio programme "Home at Eight" in 1952 and the butler Trog was heard only as heavy footfalls! "

Thank you for that, bibblebub, yes that is exactly it, 'Tea Edmond, Milik' in her sepulchral voice, didn't realise Richard Attenborough was in it tho, thanks again
you are most welcome, and thanks for re-kindling some of my memories
