mmmm, bit dissapointed, things didnt match up. I never read book but my sis had and said the film misses so much out.
One to add to my list of book downloads when I eventually get my Kindle.
I loved the film. I can't compare it to the book though, it was a bit too confusing for me to follow :-s lol

yeah. thats sometimes always the way with a film after youve read the book isnt it, which is a shame..

you ought to read it 4get, its really good.

it took me a little while before 'getting my head around' what was going on, but it all soon fell into place.
i dont really read books. Newspapers for me and tv.
Question Author
ohh its a must tigger! :o)

and yes erin, i had that same problem at first, lol, but im glad i persevered.
try and give it another go maybe? it might be easier now youve seen the film?
Sad thing is I won't be getting it anytime soon.
I might just do that.. need to finish the other 2 books i'm reading first haha
Question Author
would the 'old fashioned' paper version not do tigger? ;o)
Could do but I'm trying to restrict the amount of books I buy at the moment. My local library is closing very soon as well.
The film was nowheree near as good as the book, there is a lot that gets cut, but that's the way with most film adaptations
The film is worth watching though
That is my absolute favourite book. It made me cry.

Enjoyed the film but I think the only way is not to compare the two. Did wonder whether, because there was so much more in the book, I would have understood the film if I hadn't read the book first.

One critism though, the final scene in the book took up one page of text and is so powerful but they didn't use it in the film - what a waste. Why oh why did they use a different ending?
Btw - film still made me cry!!
I saw the film with 2 friends who had read the book, they hated it and I liked it!
Have you read the author's other book "Her Fearful Symmetry"? If you liked TTW you will probably like that too.
Quite a sweet movie.
A few mistakes with time difference issues tho.
Reminded me of the movie The Lake House (with Keanu Reeves) Another sweet film : )
I'm like 4getmenot ... the tv is always on and I read the paper. Easy way out ! I used to read loads but can't get into books now. But yes, I've seen the film and I really enjoyed it, very cleverly done I thought.
Question Author
ah it made me cry too netty .. big ol fat tears were falling out my eyes, i could hardly see the page! lol.
it left me very 'quiet and thoughtful' for a while afterwards... i think its because you really get to know and feel for the the characters, clare and henry, dont you...

tut, what they dont do that very last scene in the film??! .... the one where it nips to 2043...?... :o(

thanks francis, i was hoping to pick up another of her books as i really liked her style of writing, so i will certainly look out for 'Her Fearful Symmetry'... :o)
