I am not a religeous person. Of late I'm not even a Christmas person. I thought Christmas was about the birth of Jesus, not about who spends the most money on gifts that no one wants. Getting in to debt that will stay with you well into the new year. I am not Bah Humbug, even though it may sound like it.

xmas to me is the celebration of jesus birth....and i do not get into debt to buy presents
It was and it is, micmak, there are two sides to Christmas...
I don't like Christmas for the simple fact that it's too commercial and too much pressure is put on parents.

Boxy. I am looking forward to January. The New Year and spring. This time of year is not good for me and Mrs MM. Love to you and yours though♥
the older you get the less you like Xmas till it becomes the ultimate bore; when you're at an age when everyone expects you to fork out most.
I've said it before so it looks like I keep repeating myself on here but, I'm going to make sure Xmas's are good ones from now on for little Tiggs. I couldn't be bothered with them for many years but things have changed now and for the better.
tigger. xmas is very special when children are young.........make the most of it.i did.
It is for the little ones tiggs - and for those who like to celebrate the religious element. We don't fall into either of those categories so we just have a nice time at home, try to be peaceful, eat too much, and see friends and family if they are around.
I think there is too much Christmas - it starts in about August now with people fussing over the cards, the presents, the food, and then there is so much going on for the kids throughout December. However, if we have got the money the kids get spoilt rotten as they only have a few 'special' Christmases (sp?). My particular bug bear is all the food people buy - why? Have they starved themselves all of December (but I am not a big food person).
on the topic of food.......i wonder how much food will be binned after the xmas period.
I have really tried to not think about Christmas, hoping it would never happen, but I have now realised it will come no matter what. I am not really religious but feel sucked in to the present thing. I have three teenage grand daughters who only want Top Shop/River Island presents so I give them the money, and off they went. I don't want any presents from anyone as I have all I need or want. My problem is as Christmas gets nearer I am starting to feel guilty coz my family might think I'm tight, but I'm not, I just find it hard to buy gifts for the sake of it.
Hi Anne - we will have a turkey crown thing (but I think I have ordered one that is too big) and a ham (my favourite) but we won't have party food, or nibbly things, etc. I hate wasting food - we will have treats that we don't usually have but I never go mad on the food front.
Christmas is for the young, give them memories of a happy Christmastime, opening presents, people being kind, smiling happy families. I wish.
we dont either sher. i think the amount of waste is dreadful, most of us have freezers we should use them for any leftovers. excuse me MM
hey, three wise men started it so if it was good enough then why not now? If you were to estimate how much those 3 spent on their travel arrangements, gifts and entourage, they didn't do stuff on the cheap
I definitely will Anne. He won't know any better this Xmas as he's is only 7 months but from next year onwards they will be nice for him. I've never had an Xmas tree but I will get one next year. Although I have no religion I'll encourage him to take part in any festivities occuring at school.
Hi Puss - one year we were really up against things and I made the decision not to buy for anyone but our children. Good grief, my mother was in tears about it (how would she face people, etc) - I know that I made the right decision, why should I waste £10 on plastic tat for someone, that they don't want, when I could make my childrens Christmas a bit better.
tigger, as he is only 7 months, i know who will enjoy xmas this year....you,lol
Christmas means different things to different people micmak....
He is my Xmas present Anne :o))))))) x
