Does anyone know why Franz Ferdinand (the band) chose this as their name? I know who Franz Ferdinand was but wondered why the band decided to name themselves after him.

Apparently they were watching horseracing on the TV. A horse called "Archduke" caught their eye and they began discussing famous archdukes - including, of course, Franz Ferdinand. The name stuck with them for the band.
