It seems to be gone for a few weeks. Was it removed or do I need to retune my TV?

I've just clicked on Channel 20 and it's definitely there on my digibox.

A retune should definitely be your first course of action. If you still can't get Virgin 1 you might need to upgrade your aerial system. See my posts here:

Chris 20 is Virgin1. Virgin1+1 used to be on channel 35.
I can't get the programme schedules on my Freeview.....it only shows the next 2 scheduled programmes rather than the full day's...........any ideas?
Oops! Sorry! And I've not touched a drop either ;-(

I've just taken a look in the Radio Times. Virgin1+1 is no longer listed as a Freeview channel.

Virgin1 stopped working around 10.45 tonight. Is it a conspiracy?
The +1 service has been discontinued as af June 2010, Virgin has been bought out by SKY so I would expect Virgin 1 do disappear shortly.
In addition to the answers already given, after 7pm in Wales, the frequency on which Virgin broadcast is given over to S4C, very annoying for those of us who enjoyed watching the programmes - especially Criminal Minds and Hustle - that were on after that time.
Been off air for a while now. Thought it'd be a pain, but in fact I think I've seen all the Virgin repertoire now so they can show what hey like when they like.
