Given that this programme is aired at 1:45 Mon - Fri, and that some of its storylines have involved, for example, overt homosexuality, both male and female, is it the kind of viewing which should be broadcast at this time?

Today's storyline involved a guy who was a transvestite, or as his uncannily understanding wife referred to it whilst trying to calm their seemingly traumatised 20ish year old daughter looking at her dad dressed in female clothing complete with wig and make up, that her husband/man in a dress/daughter's father "suffers from a condition called gender dysphoria". Try explaining that to an over curious 5 or 6 year old, sitting there asking mummy or daddy what "gender dysphoria" is???

Impressionable young children JL - Are you suggesting that if a child sees such a thing they will become gay?!
Perhaps they'll start wearing sandals or flipflops............
...........or start singing 'show-tunes'.........
You could monitor what they watch!
You have to wonder JTH
Is gayness catching?
It would seem so Ummmmm.... Looks like I am a gonna
It's not just a case of 'monitoring what they watch'

If hardcore porn was shown on daytime tv would that be ok as long as we kept our children from watching it?
As you just pointed out JL there is a watershed. Hardcore porn is very unlikely to be shown on general tv let alone in the day time.
That's right, joeluke, keep it all in proportion..........
If I had children I would monitor what they watched at any point in the day it's called being responsible!
jth, they both come under the heading 'things young children should not see'
I wouldn't have wanted any child of mine to see 'any' form of overt sexual behaviour.........having a storyline *about* homosexuality is hardly the same.

(Except in your world..........)
Indeed...
Young children are innocent and do not need to be subjected to 2 'men' kissing as happens on Emmerdale/Eastenders etc
We're discussing Doctors, at lunchtime, joeluke, but thanks anyway...........
What age group then?

My kids were in bed by the time EE came on. By the time they were allowed up at that time they were old enough to understand.
I don't see what the problem is with children seeing two men kissing, its the same as seeing mummy and daddy kiss in my opinion. I was told from a young age. Some women love women and some men love men. As a child that is not that hard to understand.
'This Morning' yesterday showed a clip of 2 'men' kissing during it's tv review section

There was no warning given that it was going to be shown so that people could make a choice about whether they viewed it or not

Nearly puked in me coffee

Now that ain't evening tv now is it?
Greedyfly - Unfortunately, joeluke doesn't want his child/ren to understand it..........he wants them to believe that it is 'wrong'.
